Community Service: Service to All Man Kind
Ronald McDonald House
Sorors serve lunch to residents that are checked in at the Ronald McDonald House. In the past, sorors have purchased sandwiches from Subway along with chips and drinks. The sorors usually socialize with parents and play with pediatric patients. The day usually starts at 11 am and ends at 1:45 pm. Sorors leave the food that is left over so that patients will have something to munch on in the afternoon.
Gleanings from the Harvest Food Drive
Gleanings from the Harvest for Galveston is an Interfaith, community based organization established solely to receive surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, institutions that prepare meals, corporations that manufacture food products, food brokers, and shippers. Gleanings stores and redistributes this food to its members – a network of organizations that have identified and can rapidly deliver this food to the hungry of Galveston. In this way, a variety of nutritious food items can be made consistently available all year round to those who feed the needy.
